Your State and National Parks
We have found that State Parks are some of the best bargains for lodging, in most cases, when making a Dam or other Quest. Not to mention that the parks themselves have a lot to offer Our favorite is Desoto State Park, an Alabama park near Fort Payne, AL. But we have found quite a few that give it a run for its money. In fact, we have only been disappointed once, and even then it could not be classified as a bad experience.
We will develop this page as we visit new parks. Your tax dollars support these parks, you should enjoy them! But don't take our word for it, check them out yourselves. Here are links to the sites for State Parks of Georgia and the surrounding states:
Georgia
Alabama
Tennessee
North Carolina
South Carolina
Florida
And the parks we have actually visited...
In Georgia:
Black Rock Mountain
Fort Mountain
Unicoi
In Alabama:
Desoto
In Tennessee:
Fall Creek Falls
Tims Ford
Rock Island
Cumberland Mountain
Edgar Evins
OK, so National Parks have gotten the short shrift here. But we have mentioned a few in other places on the site:
Fort Frederica National Monument
And check out their page:

And, The US Forest Service has some facilities of its own:
